The Association

An association on its way to becoming a charitable foundation – based in Solothurn, with a physical location planned in Basel from 2028.

An association exists under the name "Bibliotheca Psychonautica" (BP), based in 4500 Solothurn (Switzerland). On its founding on 10 November 2012, the statutes of the Verein Bibliotheca Psychonautica took effect and came into force. The statutes can be requested for inspection.

The association is committed to the aims set out above and, on the way to founding a charitable foundation, takes appropriate steps to build the library and, where useful, to complete and expand the holdings and make them accessible for possible research projects – for example through cataloguing, exhibitions, publications and so on. The board reports on progress at the annual general meeting and plans the next steps. It also decides which items in the collection (duplicate books, for instance) may be sold and which other important materials should be acquired.

The founding of the Verein Bibliotheca Psychonautica laid the cornerstone for a future foundation whose aim is to bring together and preserve substantial private collections of psychonautic literature, videos, DVDs, CDs, records, pictures, photographs, artworks, correspondence, diaries, research material and manuscripts – in order to build the most comprehensive possible library on drugs and altered states, keeping psychonautic knowledge of altered states of consciousness alive.
